Thing 1 and Thing 2

With apologies to Dr. Seuss:

"I have a few friends who are fun through and through. Their names are Thing 1 and the other Thing 2."

Ok. Maybe reupholstering these twins was not quite

"fun through and through" as described by Dr. Seuss, but holy cow, these things were solid wood through and through! Introducing Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 are HUGE Drexel Heritage scroll back wing chairs featuring an attached back cushion, an additional back cushion, 6 1/2" seat cushions, and 3/4" nail head trim. They were built in 2006, and are in WONDERFUL shape for their age. The frames inspired some "frame p@rn." Frame p@rn is when upholsterers are so excited about the heft and shape of a frame we share photos of naked frames with unsuspecting dinner companions. In fact, Thing 1 and Thing 2 had the most beautiful frames I've seen. While I was drooling over the frame, the client's chief complaint was some remodeling done by the cat over the years, and that the original rust and brown Tuscan inspired fabric had become tired and dated. And so, the client chose a heavy performance woven fabric by Stout - Varsity 1 in Natural for Thing 1 and Thing 2's next chapter.

The biggest challenges with Thing 1 and Thing 2 were simply those heavy, fabulous frames. It took as long to strip them down as it did to reupholster them, and we got a work out schlepping these twins in the process. Thing 1 and Thing 2 should hold up for many new adventures in their new clothes. I've secured the client's pledge never to allow these beautiful frames to go to a landfill!

You can run, you can drive.

You can skip, or you can walk.

Thing 1 and Thing 2's uphostery rocks.
