Family Heirloom

This week's project was a family heirloom rocking chair that had been in the client's family for years. Sometime along the way the bottom fell out of the chair and the springs were lost. The client refinished the chair frame, but wasn't sure how to go about rebuilding the spring system and cushion. We gave this chair a very secure new spring system (client's request), with 8 way tied springs, and built up the seat for comfort and security. The client asked for a matching back cushion.

The fabric is crypton in the color "Cross Current Slate." Crypton is a highly durable, high-tech fabric with stain resistance and odor resistance woven right in. The soft modern weave of "Cross Current Slate" in a perfect warm greige will go with any decor. It brings this old rocker into a new century. The client's family should be able to hand this beauty down to another generation or two.
